Post for now…

My life has an infinite hole now that those two shows are gone.

I think many reviews got Shiv’s motivation wrong. What decision can maximize her outcome – now that she knows Tom caught the golden ring? It’s just a question of grabbing the highest rung available, one that solves more of her problems, in this case how to best cleave to power and how to avoid single motherhood. Her assessment of Kendall is true, but not relevant to her choice. Kendall’s many weaknesses would have provided many avenues for her to flex her power in a King Kendall scenario. And, deliciously for any who sympathize with Tom, the tables have turned. SHE is now the hanger-on in the relationship – not Tom. What happens next?? Spin off please!!

Barry is yet another show I discovered almost too late (like Breaking Bad).

To me it is an interesting reflection on just what heaven and hell are… How will YOU feel about YOURSELF at the end of your life when you start to take account? Is your soul light as a feather… or not. Barry is already in hell, he knows he’s not a good person and it’s a continuous weight on him (and he lacks the will to try to change that)

The only character who gains anything close to redemption is Cusineau. He is the only one able to right his wrongs. But fate has a different outcome for him and his actions fail to save him. But was it wasted effort? Do atonement and redemption, and avenging Janice, give him peace of mind in Jail? Sequel needed. Maybe he turns into a Buddha like figure who dispenses mercy and wisdom to the other inmates.

The only positive outcome is John’s. Like Forrest Gump Jr, he is the offspring of two damaged people, who together were able to create one beautiful thing with their lives. DNA is not destiny. We know John’s going to turn out just fine.
